Continuing research and development at Cherwell Laboratories has identified new packaging processes and materials which we are confident will bring benefits to all users of Redipor media.
We have been using laminated films for our VHP impermeable barrier pack for some time. Now we have found a laminated film suitable for our range of both standard and irradiated plate products.

This material will allow us to improve our efficiency by automating the wrap process while maintaining all the properties of the current materials with regard to sterility and shelf life.
The benefits to the users include:
- No cling film
Two layer laminated film wrap replaces both the cling film and the inner bag.
- Mechanical strength
More resistant to puncture, improves product security
- Easy tear
Easy to open even with gauntlets
- High clarity
Allows even better visibility of condition of plates and label through intact packaging
We intend to install new machinery and processes in the first half of 2009 without disruption to our current production. We will start converting our 9cm Petri dish products first followed some time later by the contact plate products.
We are confident that these changes will be worth waiting for and will keep you informed of progress. In the meantime we would love to hear your reaction to our plan and any other ways you would like us to improve our products.
